About Us

Our story in the optical sciences starts in 1955 when Charalambos Xenos starts working as an optical lens technician. Things go well and in 1977 he starts the company ESTIA OPTICLA ARTS Ltd, a small optical lens processing facility.  In 1984 he opens the Xenos Optics shop in the Athens suburb of Papagos.
The years pass and the son, Christos Xenos, takes over the shop . Chr. Xenos belongs to the new generation that  studies their professional subjects. He is a certified optician, with studies in the UK (City & Islington College και King’s College London), postgraduate studies at the Univ. of Creta (ITE) and many years of work experience in England and Greece. He is a member of the British Opticians Union (ABDO), the British Optical Council (GOC) and the Greek Opticians Union (ΠΕΟΟ) with training (Hons LVA) in Low Vision Aids.
Under Chr. Xenos tutelage the shop acquires specialization in low vision aids. Low vision is the reduced optical  ability of persons that, for various pathological reasons or injuries have vision that is inadequate, restricted, blurry, distorted etc, despite the best possible refraction correction by using glasses or contact lenses.   Persons with low vision are those that have visual acquity lower than 4/10, about 70% reduction on natural vision and field of view less than 20 degrees. On the contrary natural vision implies visual acquity 10/10 and  field of view 160 degrees horizontal and 135 vertical on both eyes.
Delaing with low vision is a complex process, necessitating investment and knowhow. Our 60 years of experience constitute the best guarantee of optimal results.
